Description
The Manhattan Transfer vocal quarto was founded in 1972 and is considered by both specialists and the public, to be the best of its category in the “vocalese' range. This word defines the adaptation of lyrics to musical themes and to some solos that were originally purely instrumental. Manhattan Transfer were very good at this formula. This concert recorded in Tokyo in 1986 is a true reflection of the bands work that gives surprising versions of some of Woody Herman and Count Basie's classics. They ass lyrics to some of Sonny Rollins and Clifford Brown's solos, as well as to some more recent tunes.
