Mercury Studios Acquires Gloria Gaynor Feature Documentary
Mercury Studios is proud to announce the acquisition of Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive. In this highly personal definitive documentary with unrestricted access and a soundtrack of hits, the film reveals the highs and lows of Gaynor's career. It offers an unfiltered look at her life, the unwavering faith that propelled her reinvention - against all odds - and the moments that lead a superstar to truly understand the meaning behind her lyrics.
New York, March 20th - Mercury Studios, Universal Music Group’s innovative and multi-faceted content studio, today announced the acquisition of the feature documentary Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive. Mercury Studios will represent the documentary globally ex-U.S. on behalf of director Betsy Schechter.
VP of Content Acquisitions for Mercury Studios; Amy Freshwater, said, “With I Will Survive the anthem, Gloria recorded an instantly recognizable message of empowerment. Nearly 50 years on, the documentary now reveals Gloria’s own experience - what it means to be a public superstar while privately fighting for survival.”
Regarding the international release of her feature documentary film, Gloria Gaynor added “I am finally at a place of joy and self-fulfilment, and I am ready to share my secret with the world - to not only surviving - but thriving”. Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive is an emotional journey that inspires and uplifts. The film debuted with a sold-out premiere at Tribeca Film Festival and collected multiple awards in the US, including the Audience Awards at Nashville Film Festival; Best Feature Documentary for the LA FEMME International Film Festival in Los Angeles and the prestigious Best of Fest Award at The Palm Springs International Film Festival.
